During your turn, you can do whatever you want, as long as it is in your skill limit.
If you think it is a good idea to kick a troll in the nuts, you can do that. If your attack beats his defense (partly decided by dice for each attack), the troll will go down for sure. But if his defense is too high, you might regret this.
During your turn, your character can speak freely. A few lines of dialogue per turn is encouraged. And even speaking during battle is allowed. You character can say almost anything, but keep it game related. (No-one needs to know what you think of Trum. Trump doesn't exist in this universe.)
Every action you take, must fit the story. You can not suddenly decide to take a nap, while you're running from a troll you just kicked in the nuts. And you can not suddenly drink a pint of ale, if you never bought a pint of ale. Makes sense, right?
